An awkward combination of words, right?
Well.. maybe not so much.
Be Joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer
Romans 12:12
Joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
This is what we are encouraged into through scripture.
Lets take a moment today and just dive into the idea
of being joyful in hope.
I mean let's really think about that. Are we ever in
any situation where our hope can afford to not be in God?
And if the answer is no, then are we ever in any situation
where we can afford to not rejoice in He from whom we
find hope?
This is the God that breathes out existence. Think about
that. This is the God whose roar brakes the cedars (Psalm 29:5)
GO READ IT! It says it right there, and it's not like His voice
just kinda barely breaks the cedars. His voice breaks them in
pieces, the scripture goes on to say. I mean we have this God
that IS ALL POWERFUL, and He tells us to place our hope
In Him!
This is the God that makes and fulfills every promise.
He has always done this, and He has said to us that we
WILL be with Him. He has said to us that He will never
leave or forsake us! He has said to us that we can rest in Him
and we can!
Rejoice. Be joyful in hope. We can. I get it. Life is not by any means
easy... Especially if you're REALLY LIVING! Furthermore, especially
if you're living for the kingdom. We're literally at war, scripture tells us
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesian 6:12
And scripture isn't wrong here. Again... not easy, BUT!!!
We also know, from the mouth of Jesus Himself that, He
has overcome the world!
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye
might have peace. In the world ye shall have
tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:3
Once again... Joyful in hope, being of good cheer.
A prayer
Father, I acknowledge that You are not only great in power, but also good to me.
Help me to find my hope in You in any situation and to rejoice in the fact that my hope
is in the One that is infinitely greater than I or anyone or thing that this world could ever offer.
Help me to remember the good things that You've done, the messes You've made beauty out of.
Help me to look forward to the things that You will do!
Help me to remember that my hope is in You through any tragedy!
Help me remember even when I'm going through something
that my cultured mind sees as small.
Help me to remember that You care and You move on my behalf when I trust in You!
In Christ's name I pray, Amen
